October 17th is when the Wetland Restoration with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is taking place. Contact Liisa for more information. Creatures of the Night and Fright Night is on October 24th. If you wish to help with either of these, contact Tara. CPSM is on October 9th and 10th at Emporia State University. We will be camping there and you can sign up at the conference. For more information contact Dr. Jackson. The next meeting is the 15th at 5pm in room 321. Hope to see you there! |

Welcome back everyone!! First of all I would like thank all of you that showed interest in joining The Wildlife Society and making this first meeting one of the best turn outs we have ever had. For those of you who couldn’t make it to the meeting here is the list of things we went over the dove opener in James A. Reed is Sept. 1st from 2pm to 8pm. Even if you can’t make it the entire time and you would like to still participate it is ok for you to leave early or show up later. There is also Creatures of the Night/Fright Night which is an annual fundraiser the Wildlife Society puts on. It includes a haunted walk through Pertle Springs, games, and other activities for the kids earlier in the day. To be on the committee to help put this all together and run it, put your name and contact information on the Wildlife Society board.
We also have a new announcement which we did not discuss at the meeting. There will be a social Sept. 2nd from 6 to 8pm at the EEC (1104 S Holden St). This social is for all members or just people who are interested in becoming a member. This is an extremely casual social. Just bring a friend, a dish, and get ready to have a good time! Hot dogs and hamburgers will be provided.
If you are interested in doing any of these things the sign up sheets are on the board in front of Dr. Jackson’s office (308 WCM) along with all other information on what is going on in the society. The next meeting will be about two weeks from now. The specific time and date will be posted on here soon, so keep checking and we hope to see you there!

The list of possible events include:
-Mammal trapping
-Plant hike
-Mushroom hunting
-Insect Netting
-OGT Trailer
-Bird walk
-Electroshocking
and more!
Lunch will be available for $2 or a raffle ticket.
There will also be a silent auction and raffle.
The main goal s are to survey for the above taxa, teach the community trapping and survey techniques, etc.
